Graduate Studies Committee

 

The Graduate Studies Committee is charged with the oversight of all graduate academic issues in the department. These issues include approval of new courses, changes to the requirements for graduation, and reviewing applicants for the masters and Ph.D. programs in electrical engineering. The committee currently meets on the second Tuesday of each month.

The committee is made up of one permanent member, one ex-officio member (and chair), and four elected faculty members:

The composition and selection procedure for the Graduate Studies Committee is as follows:

  • The Associate Department Head of the Klipsch School shall serve as chair of the Graduate Studies Committee. The Associate Department Head, if not elected by the tenured and tenure-track faculty, is ineligible to vote.
  • The voting members of the committee shall be composed of five tenured or tenure-track faculty from the Klipsch School. One voting member of the committee will be the Klipsch School Head.
  • Each voting member of the committee (with the exception of the Klipsch School Head) shall be selected by closed-ballot vote of all tenured and tenure-track faculty members in the Klipsch School.
  • Each of the elected members of the committee will serve a three-year term on the committee.
  • No one elected faculty member may serve more than two consecutive three-year terms on the committee.
  • The terms of the individual elected members of the committee will be staggered in one year increments.
  • No specialty area of the Klipsch School may be represented on the Graduate Studies Committee by more than one elected faculty member.
