The 21st Century Aerospace Cluster participates in a number of project areas that draw
on the talents of the science, engineering, and education faculty at NMSU. The
interest
areas are described below. Visit the Listings link to see an overview of the
projects and the individual Web pages to discover detailed
descriptions of the projects.
Interest Areas:
- Aeronautical Engineering

The Aeronautical Engineering emphasis area investigates the properties
of airframe-related structures. The AE area is composed of faculty from
Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering.
- Space Science
-
The Space Science emphasis area investigates natural science questions
from Astronomy and Physics. The SS area is composed of faculty from
Astronomy, Physics, and Electrical Engineering.
- Space Engineering
-
The Space Engineering emphasis area develops sensors and payloads to
support SS investigations. The SE area is composed of faculty from
Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Astronomy, and Physics.
- University Education
-
The University Education emphasis area develops new classes to support
the science and engineering projects. The UE area is composed of faculty from
the participating science and engineering departments.
- STEM Education
-
The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education
emphasis area develops educational support, especially for pre-service teachers
and pre-college education. The STEM area is composed of faculty from
the participating science and engineering departments and the College of Education.
